WhenauserinitiallytriestologintoLab Managerwithanunknownlogin,
Lab ManagerchecksthecredentialsagainsttheActiveDirectorydomain.Ifthe
credentialssucceed,Lab Managercreatesanewdefaultuseraccount,marksthat
accountasanLDAPaccount,andlogstheuserintothesystem.
Administratorscanaltertherecordsofanexistinguserandchangetheway
Lab Managerauthenticatesauser.Forexample,youcangiveanLDAPaccount
administrativeprivileges.YoucanalsospecifywhetherLab Manager
authenticatesusersusingtheActiveDirectorydomainortheLab Manager
database.
To specify a user authentication method as a Lab Manager Administrator already
authenticated against the LDAP server

designation,selecttheValidateLDAPUserswhenEditedcheckbox.
Becausetheadministratorselectingthecheckboxisalreadyauthenticatedasan
LDAPuser,thischeckboxenablestheIsLDAPcheckboxontheproperties
page
forusersandallowsLab ManagertovalidatetheexistenceoftheuserintheActive
Directorydomain(seestep5).

4MovethepointerovertheusernameandchoosePropertiesfromthemenu.

SelectingtheIsLDAPcheckboxandclickingOKensurestheActiveDirectory
domain,ratherthantheLab M anageruserdatabase,authenticatesthisuser

IfLab Managercannotvalidatetheuserasan
LDAPuser,amessageappears
notingtheissue.
DeselectingtheIsLDAPcheckboxandclickingOKensurestheLab Manager
userdatabase,ratherthananActiveDirectorydomain,authenticatesthisuser
whenheorshelogsintotheWebconsole.
