IntheLab ManagerInstallationIDsection,Lab ManagerusesthisIDtogenerate
MACaddressesforvirtualmachines.Keepthesepointsinmind:
IfyouhavemorethanoneLab Managerinstallationonthesamenetwork,each
installationmusthaveauniqueID.Lab ManagerrandomlyassignsanIDand
allowstheadministratortomanuallyeditthevalueincaseanIDcollisionoccurs.
SettingauniqueinstallationIDensuresthevirtualmachinenetworktrafficof
each
installationdoesnotinterferewitheachother.
Lab ManagergenerateshundredsofMACaddressesbasedontheinstallationID.
Lab ManagerassignstheseMACaddressestovirtualmachines.Ifyouhavemore
thanoneLab ManagerinstallationonanetworkwiththesameinstallationID,
Lab ManagergeneratesthesamesetofMACaddressesforbothinstallationsand
causesaMACaddress
conflictthatcancreatecomplications.
Lab ManagercannotregenerateMACaddressesondeployedmachines.Ifyou
changetheinstallationIDinanenvironmentwithdeployedvirtualmachines,the
changefailsbecausesomeaddressesareinuse.

ReviewtheelementsoftheIPPooltab:
Network–Networkinformationinthetopleftcornershowsthetotalnumberof
IPaddressesintheLab ManagerIPpoolandthenumberofavailableIPaddresses.
Filter–ShowsasubsetofthetotalnumberofIPaddressesintheLab ManagerIP
pool.Lab Managermatchesthetextenteredinthefieldtotheleftofthebutton
againsttheattributedataofthecolumns.Entriesarenotcase‐sensitive.
Usingthemouseovermenutotheleftof
thefield,youcanfilteracrossallcolumns
onthepageorwithinaspecificcolumn.
Allocated–GreencheckmarkindicatesavirtualmachinehasthisIPaddress.
Deployed–Greencheckmarkindicatesthevirtualmachineisdeployed.A
hyphen(“‐”)indicatesthevirtualmachineisnotdeployed.
Type–AllocatedIPaddressisassignedtoavirtualmachine(VM)orvirtualrouter
(VR).
