Removing Storage Servers
AdministratorscanremoveaSAN(VMFS),NFS,orSMBstorageserverfrom
Lab Manager.Ifvirtualmachinesexistontheserver,undeploythembeforestartingthis
operation.
To remove a storage server
1ClickStorageintheleftpane.
2ClicktheVirtualMachinestab.
3Iftheserverisenabled,movethepointerovertheserverandchooseDisablefrom
themenu.
4MovethepointerovertheserverandchooseRemovefromthemenu.
5Ifapplicable,reviewthelistofaffectedvirtualmachinesandclickDelete.
ThoughLab ManagerremovesthestorageserverfromtheLab Managersystem,the
filesonthestorageserverstillexist.Theusermustdeletethesefilesmanually
toreclaim
thespace.
Additional Tasks for Removing an NFS Media Server
AfteryouremoveanNFSstorageserver,theLab Managerconsolenolongerdisplays
itsmediafiles,butthefilesstillexistonthestorageserver.
IfanyNFSmediaontheremovedNFSserverisinuse,ejecttheNFSCD,DVD,or
floppyfilesfromallthevirtualmachinesto
avoidpotentialerrors.Specifically,ifa
virtualmachineusesmediaonanNFSstorageserverandyouremovethatserver,the
mediadisappearsfromtheLab ManagerServersystembutstillexistsontheManaged
Serversystembecauseitisstillinuse.IfyouaddthesameNFSserveragain,the
ManagedServercannotlocatethemediabecauseitoperatesasifitalreadyhasthatNFS
server.
Afteryouejectthemediafileandwaitforthenextmonitoringcycle(defaulttimeisfive
minutes),themonitoringcycleremovestheoldNFSstorageserver.Atthatpoint,you
canaddthe
samestorageserveragainunderanewnametoallowthemediaonthat
servertowork.
