Option Description
Clone Createsadeltadiskinsteadofcopyinganentirevirtualharddisk.This
operationaddressesvirtualmachineproliferationbyusing“referential
provisioning.”Thisprocessinvolvesstoringnewchangesbutreferring
backtoachainofdeltadisks.Foreachchange,LabManagerfreezesadelta
diskandcreatesanew
one.
Copy Createsacomplete(deep)copyofthetemplate.Thisoperationcopies
(ratherthanconsolidates)allofthedeltadisksandthemasterdisk.
Typically,youdonotcopyatemplateunlessyouneedtodismantlethe
storageandmovethevirtualmachinetoadifferentserver.
Thisoperationtakesalonger
timethanthecloneoperation.
Consolidate Collapsesthedeltadisksthatmightaffectperformanceintoonemaster
disk.
Usethisoptionwhenperformanceisslowandthevirtualmachinechain
lengthistenormore.(Toviewthechainlength,choosePropertiesinthe
mouseovermenu.)
Delete Removesatemplatefromthemachinetemplate
library.
Deploy RegistersandrunsthevirtualmachineontheManagedServerpool.After
youdeployatemplate,youcanviewandusethevirtualmachineconsole.
Export Exportsthemachinetemplatetoanetworkdirectory.
ForceUndeploy Forcestheundeployprocessafterafailedundeployoperation.Ifyouare
awareofaproblem
(forexample,theManagedServerisdown),youmight
forcefullyneedtocleanthetemplatesarea.
Ifanattempttoundeployatemplatefailsandyouneedtoaccessthis
option,clicktheErrorinUndeployinglinkintheStatuscolumnandclick
ForceUndeploy.
Import Importsamachinetemplatefroma
networkdirectory.
MakePrivate Makesatemplatevisibleandaccessibleonlyforyouruse.
MakeShared Makesatemplateavailableforotherstouse.
Properties Enablesyoutoviewandeditmachinetemplateproperties.
Publish Makesthetemplateavailableforuseinbuildingconfigurations.
Undeploy Un‐registersandstopsrunningthevirtualmachineontheManagedServer
pool.
Unpublish Makesthetemplateunavailableforuseinbuildingconfigurations.
ViewConsole Enablesyoutoviewandusethevirtualmachineconsoleforthetemplate.
