4SpecifythesourceforyourvirtualmachineintheVirtualCentervirtualmachineinventory
browser,and
clickNext.
Youcansearchthebrowserthroughoneoftwoviewsoftheinventory,thedefaultHosts&Clustersview
ortheVirtualMachines&Templatesview,intheViewdrop‐downmenu.
Select a Standalone Virtual Machine as the Source
UsethisprocedureifyoursourcesystemisastandaloneVMwarevirtualmachine(thatis,onethatisavirtual
machinefromVMwareWorkstation 4.x,5.x,or6.x,VMwareServer,orVMwareGSX Server).
To select the source standalone virtual machine to configure

3Browseforthesourcevirtualmachineorimage,selectthefile,andclickOpen.
ThefiletypechoicesarelimitedtoVMwareWorkstationFiles(*.vmx).

Ifthesourcevirtualmachineyouselectispasswordprotected,theVirtualMachineLoginpageappears.
5TypethepasswordandclickNext.
Ifthesourcevirtualmachineisnotpasswordprotected,thewizardskipsthispageanddisplaysthe
Customizationpage.

2OntheComputerInformationpage,customizeanyofthesefields:
ComputerName–Auniquenametoidentifythevirtualmachineonthenetwork.Validcharacters
includeA‐Z,a‐z,0‐9,andthehyphen.Underscoreisnonstandard,butConverterpermitsitsuse.The
ComputerNamecannothavemorethan63charactersandcannotconsistonlyofnumerals.
