Choose an ESX Server Virtual Machine Destination
UsethisprocedureifyouareconvertingthevirtualmachinetoruninESX Server.
To select the destination for a converted virtual machine
1ClickNextontheDestinationpagetomovetotheDestinationTypepage.
2 SelectVMwareInfrastructureVirtualMachinefromthedrop‐downmenu.
3ClickNext.
4OntheDestinationLoginpage,logintotheESXServeror
VirtualCenterserverdestination,asfollows:
a Choosethedestinationserverinthedrop‐downmenuortypethenameoftheserverifitisnotlisted.
bTypeyourusernameandthepasswordforthedestinationserver.
cClickNext.
5OntheVirtualMachineNamepage,enterthenameyouwanttoassigntothevirtualmachine.
IfavirtualmachinewiththesamenameexistsforESX Server,VMware Converterdisplaysawarning
messageandasksyoutoselectanothername.
6ClickNext.
7OntheHostpage,choosethespecifichostforthevirtualmachine(clusterinmanualmodeonly)andclick
Next.
8Specifythe
datastoreforthevirtualmachine’sconfigurationfilesanddisksandclickNext.
Alldatastoresandtheiravailablespaceappearinthispanel.Youmustchooseadatastoreordatastores
largeenoughtocontaintheselecteddisks.
9 (Optional)Todistributedisksoverseveraldatastoresortoplacethevirtualmachineconfigurationfile
and
eachdiskonaseparatedatastore,followthesesteps:
aClickAdvancedtoseethelistofdisksandthevirtualmachineconfigurationfile.
b Choosethedatastoreforeachdiskandfilefromthedrop‐downmenus.
Ifinsufficientspaceisavailable,anerrormessageappearsstatingtherequiredamount.
