Choose a Workstation Virtual Machine Destination
UsethisprocedureifyouareperformingaWorkstation‐to‐Workstationconversion.
To select a Workstation destination for your converted virtual machine
1OntheDestinationpage,clickNexttomovetotheDestinationTypepage.
2 SelectOtherVirtualMachinefromthedrop‐downmenuandclickNext.
3OntheVirtualMachineNameandLocationpage,typeanameforthe
convertedvirtualmachineand
browsetoenterthedestinationlocation.
Ifthesourceisaremotephysicalcomputer,aConnectAsbuttonappears.Specifyanetwork‐mountable
locationaccessibletoboththesourcemachineandthemachinerunningtheConverterapplication.
4 Selectatypeofvirtualmachinetocreate.
Thevirtualmachine

Dependingonthetypeofsourceanddestination,youmighthaveoptionsinhowyouallocatediskspace
forthenewvirtualmachine:
Toallocateallthediskspaceforthisclone,clicktheAllocatealldiskspacenowforbetter
performancebutton.Thisoptiongivessomewhatbetterperformanceforyourvirtualmachine.Ifyou
clickAllowvirtualdiskfilestoexpand,thevirtualdisk’sfilesstartsmallandgrowasneeded,until
theyreachthesizeofthesourcedisksfromwhichtheywerecloned.
TosupportvirtualdisksonFATfilesystems,ensurethattheSplitdiskinto2GBfilescheckboxis
selected.

8OntheDestinationNameandLocationpage,typethenameyouwanttoassigntothevirtualmachine.
Thenamecanbe80characterslong,iscasesensitive,
andmustbeuniquewithinthevirtualmachine
folder.Itcancontainalphanumericcharactersandtheunderscore(_)andhyphen(‐).
9BrowseortypethepathofthelocationwhereyouwanttocreatetheVMwarevirtualmachineandclick

adapterstoabridged,host‐only,orNAT
networkandclickNext.
Customize a New Virtual Machine’s Guest Operating System
OntheConversionwizardCustomizationpage,youcanchoosetoinstallVMwareTools,customizeaguest
operatingsystem,removeSystemRestorecheckpoints,oranycombinationoftheseoptions,dependingonthe
guestoperatingsystem.
ConverterdoesnotsupportcustomizationforWindowsNT.
