Choose a Destination for the New Virtual Machine
Youcanconvertyoursourcemachinetothefollowingdestinations:

Workstationvirtualmachine
IfyouareconvertingyourvirtualmachinetoruninESXServermanagedbyVirtualCenter,andyouwantto
haveaclusterasthedestination,thecluster’sVMwareDRSsettingsmustbesettomanual.Converterdoesnot
support,asdestinations,clustersinwhichtheDRSisset
topartiallyorfullyautomated.
Choose an ESX Server Managed by VirtualCenter Destination
UsethisprocedureifyouareconvertingthevirtualmachinetoruninESXServermanagedbyVirtualCenter.
To select an ESX Server managed by VirtualCenter destination for a converted virtual machine
1ClickNextontheDestinationpagetomovetotheDestinationTypepage.
2 SelectVMwareInfrastructureVirtualMachinefromthedrop‐downmenuandclickNext.
3OntheDestinationLoginpage,log
intotheVirtualCenterserverdestinationandfollowthesesteps:
a Choosethedestinationserverinthedrop‐downmenuortypethenameoftheserverifitisnotlisted.
bTypeyourusernameandthepasswordforthedestinationserver.

4OntheVirtualMachineNameandFolder
page,assignanametothevirtualmachine.
5IntheVirtualMachineInventoryLocationpane,chooseafolderintheVirtualCenterinventory.
TheVirtualCenterinventorymightcontainmultiplehosts,clusters,anddatacenters.

7OntheHost&Clusterpage,specifytheresourcesfortheconvertedvirtualmachine,asfollows:
a Selectthehost,cluster,orresourcepoolwithinahostorclusterfromwhichtorunthevirtual
machine.
