Type of failed
machine
Conditions to cause abnormal end of
diagnosis
(In the checking order)
Notes
XenServer Slave
Machine
▪ Cannot connect to XenServer Pool
Master.
▪ Cannot access to the shared disk
through XenServer Pool Master.
▪ When a machine cannot
connect to Pool Master or
access to the disk, the
process ends with an error
because the diagnosis
function cannot control the
recovery process.
▪ Because the shared disk's
check to a Slave machine is
executed through Pool
Master, if the diagnosis
function can access to the
shared disk, a Slave machine
can connect to the shared
disk or not. In this case, the
diagnosis function shows
preference on the assumption
of error occurrence and
completes the process to
execute the recovery process.
1.5.2. Sensor Diagnosis
Sensor diagnosis receives events of managed machines and analyzes whether the
sensor statuses of the powered on managed machines have any trouble.
Sensor diagnosis needs communicating with BMC of managed machines through OOB
Management.
"Machine status / Set faulted status by sensor diagnosis" policy action ends abnormally
when it judges that the machine suspected of failure is normal.
And the rules of diagnosis of machines changes depending on the type of triggered
event or machine status.
The diagnosis rules change as follows according to the type of triggered event.
The OOB Management event
Analyzes the sensor which has sent the triggered event alone and judges whether
the sensor is in critical state or not.
If the sensor does not respond due to communication failure or hardware failure,
sensor diagnosis decides whether it ends normally or abnormally according to the
importance of the triggered event.
NEC ESMPRO event
One of NEC ESMPRO events is relevant to the sensor status and treated as to be
diagnosed.
