DNS Server—Required for the various solution components to perform
name resolution. The Microsoft DNS Service running on a Windows Server
2012 server is used for this purpose.
Active Directory Server—Services that are required for the various solution
components to function properly. The Microsoft AD Directory Service
running on a Windows Server 2012 server is used for this purpose.
Shared Infrastructure —DNS and authentication/authorization services like
Microsoft Active Directory can be provided using the existing infrastructure
or set up as part of the new virtual infrastructure.
IP network—A shared IP network carries user and management traffic. A
standard Ethernet network should use redundant cabling and switching.
Brocade Storage Network — VSPEX with Brocade networking offers
different options for block-based and file-based storage networks. All
storage traffic is carried over redundant cabling and Brocade Fabric
switches.
Storage Network for Block:
This solution provides three options for block based storage networks.
Fibre Channel (FC) is a set of standards that define protocols for
performing high speed serial data transfer. FC provides a
standard data transport frame among servers and shared
storage devices.
Brocade 6510 Fibre Channel Switch — Provides fast, easy and
resilience scaling from 24 to 48 Ports on Demand (PoD)
capabilities and supports 2,4, 8, or 16 Gbps speeds for FC
attached VNX5400, VNX5600, and VNX5800 arrays .
Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) is a new storage networking
protocol that supports FC natively over Ethernet, by
encapsulating FC frames into Ethernet frames. This allows the
encapsulated FC frames to run alongside traditional Internet
Protocol (IP) traffic.
Brocade VDX 6740 Ethernet Fabric Switch — Provides efficient,
easy to configure, resiliency that scales from 24 to 64 Port on
Demand (PoD) at 10GbE for FCoE attached VNX5400, VNX 5600
and VNX 5800 arrays.
10 Gb Ethernet (iSCSI) enables the transport of SCSI blocks over a
TCP/IP network. iSCSI works by encapsulating SCSI commands
into TCP packets and sending the packets over the IP network.
Brocade VDX 6740 Ethernet Fabric Switch — Provides efficient,
easy to configure, resiliency that scales from 24 to 64 Port on
Demand (PoD) at 1 GbE or 10GbE for iSCSI attached VNX5400,
VNX 5600 and VNX 5800 arrays.
