The technology solution
This solution uses EMC VNX5400
™
(for up to 1,000 virtual desktops) or
VNX5600 (for up to 2,000 virtual desktops), Brocade Ethernet Fabric or
Connectrix-B Fibre Channel switches, and VMware vSphere to provide the
storage and computer resources for a VMware Horizon View environment
of Windows 7 virtual desktops provisioned by VMware Horizon View
™
Composer. Brocade Ethernet Fabric switches for File based storage
network or Brocade 6510 Fibre Channel Fabric switches for Block storage
network.

Planning and designing the storage infrastructure for VMware Horizon View
environment is a critical step because the shared storage must be able to
absorb large bursts of I/O that occur over the course of a workday. These
bursts can lead to periods of erratic and unpredictable virtual desktop
performance. Users can adapt to slow performance, but unpredictable
performance frustrates them and reduces efficiency.
