Note: For high availability, an SQL Server can be installed in a Microsoft
Failover Clustering or on a virtual machine protected by VMHA clustering.
Do not combine these technologies.
To use VMware vCenter in this solution, create a database for the service
to use. The requirements and steps to configure the vCenter Server
database correctly are covered in Preparing vCenter Server Databases.
Refer to the list of documents in Appendix C of this document for more
information.
Note: Do not use the Microsoft SQL Server Express-based database option
for this solution.
It is a best practice to create individual login accounts for each service
accessing a database on SQL Server.
To use VMware Update Manager in this solution, create a database for the
service to use. The requirements and steps to configure the Update
Manager database correctly are covered in Preparing the Update
Manager Database. Refer to the list of documents in Appendix C of this
