Note: Ensure there are adequate switch ports between the file based
attached storage array & ESXi hosts, and ports to existing customer
infrastructure.
Note: Use a minimum of two VLANs for:
- Storage networking (NFS) and vMotion.
- Virtual machine networking and ESXi management (These are
customer- facing networks. Separate them if required.)
Note: The Brocade VDX Ethernet Fabric switch provide supports
converged network for customers needing FCoE or iSCSI block based
storage network attached storage as well.
Use existing infrastructure that meets the requirements for
customer infrastructure and management networks. In this
deployment, we are using VLAN 30 for Live Migration traffic,
VLAN 20 for Storage traffic and VLAN 10 for Management.
The infrastructure Figure 35 shows a sample redundant Brocade 6510 Fibre
Channel Fabric (FC) switch infrastructure for block based storage network
between compute and storage array. The diagram illustrates the use of
redundant switches and links to ensure that no single point of failure exist in
the network connectivity. The Brocade 6510 switch only supports the FC
protocol. The Brocade 6510 FC switches are validated for the FC protocol
option.
