Chapter 6 Creating and Configuring a Cost Model
Afteraglobalfixedcostiscreated,youcanassociateitwithanentity,asetofentities,orhierarchies.Thiscan
bedonewhileconfiguringcostsattheentitylevel.Globalfixedcostscanalsobeaddedtoatemplateandthen
setonanentityorahierarchy.
Modify a Global Fixed Cost
Youcanmodifytheglobalfixedcostsasandwhenrequired.
To edit a global fixed cost
1IntheManageCosttab,clickGlobalFixedCost.
Atablelistingalltheglobalfixedcostscreatedintheapplicationisdisplayed.
2 SelecttheglobalfixedcostthatyouwanttomodifyandclickEdit.
TheEditGlobalFixedCostscreenisdisplayed.
3Modifythenecessaryinformation,andclickEdit.
Themodifiedglobalfixedcostisdisplayedinthetablelistingtheglobalfixedcosts.
Delete a Global Fixed Cost
Youcandeleteinvalidorunwantedglobalfixedcostsfromtheapplication.
To delete a global fixed cost
1IntheManageCosttab,clickGlobalFixedCost.
Atablelistingalltheglobalfixedcostscreatedintheapplicationisdisplayed.
2 Selecttheglobalfixedcostthatyouwanttodelete,andclickDelete.
Adialogbox
confirmingtheactionisdisplayed.
3ClickOK.
Theglobalfixedcostisdeletedfromtheapplicationand,consequently,fromthetablelistingtheglobal
fixedcosts.
Manage Cost Templates
vCenterChargebackenablesyoutocreatecosttemplatesthatcontainentity‐specificcostconfigurationdetails.

Create a Cost Template
Acostmodelcontainsthebaseratesandbillingpoliciesthatareglobaltotheapplication.Entity‐specificcost
configuration,suchastheratefactorsandfixedcosts,mustbedefinedontheentity.Ifyouwanttoapplya
standardentity‐specificcostsettingonmorethanoneentity,you
cancreateacosttemplatethatcontainsthese
settings,andapplythesametotherequiredentities.
CAUTIONDeletingaglobalfixedcostalsoremovesitfromtheentitiesonwhichitwasconfigured.This
deletedcostwillnotreflectinthereport.Onlytheglobalfixedcoststhatexistintheapplicationatthetimeof
reportgenerationwillbeincludedinthereport.
