Manage Data Collectors
WhenyouinstallvCenterChargeback,youcanoptionallyinstalladatacollector.Youcanalsoregistermore
thanonedatacollectortoavCenterChargebackinstallation.

View Data Collectors
YoucanseeallthedatacollectorsregisteredwiththeapplicationbyclickingDataCollectorsintheSettings
tab.Atablelistingallthedatacollectorsregisteredwiththeapplicationisdisplayed.Thetablelistsallthe
synchronizationjobsthateachdatacollectorisrunningforeachvCenterServeraddedto
theapplication.You
canhavemorethanonedatacollector.Iftherearemultipledatacollectorsrunning,synchronizationjobsare
equallydistributedamongthem.
TheDataCollectorspagedisplaysthefollowinginformation:
DataCollectorID:TheIDofthedatacollector.
DataCollectorHeartBeat:Thetimestampwhenthedatacollectorwaslastknowntoberunning.
The datacollectorupdatesthisinformationwiththeapplicationevery30seconds.Ifthereisnoupdate
fromthedatacollectorformorethan150seconds,thedatacollectorisconsideredtobedown
andalljobs
arereassignedtootherrunningdatacollectors,ifany.
DataCollectorHostName:Thehostnameofthedatacollector.
Registered:Indicatesifthedatacollectorisenabledordisabled.
DataCollectorName:Thenameofthedatacollectorprovidedduringtheinstallation.
vCenterSynchronizeID:Asystem‐defineduniqueidentifierforeachsynchronizationjob.
vCenterServerHostname/IP:ThehostnameorIPaddressofthevCenterServer.
JobType:Thetypeofthesynchronizationjob.Theseare:
StorageSyncingJob:Thedatacollectorobtainsthestorageinformationforallthevirtualmachines
managedbytheVirtualCenterServerorvCenterServer.Thinprovisioningandlinkedclonesare
consideredwhencalculatingthestorageutilization.Thefirstrunofthisjobmightfailifthefirstrun
oftheInventorySyncing
Jobtakemorethan5minutestocomplete.InvSphere4.0,theVMware
VirtualCenterManagementWebservicesservicemustberunningonthevCenterServermachinefor
thestoragesynchronizationtocompletesuccessfully.
InventorySyncingJob:ThedatacollectorcopiesthevCenterServerinventoryintothevCenter
Chargebackdatabase.ThissynchronizationjobensuresthattheinventoryinformationinthevCenter
ChargebackdatabaseisinsyncwiththecorrespondinginformationinthevCenterServerdatabase.
StatsSyncingJob:IftheEnableStatsReplicationoptionisselectedforavCenterServeraddedtothe
application,allthevitalstatisticsrequiredforcostcalculationisreplicatedinthevCenterChargeback
database.ThissynchronizationjobensuresthatthestatisticsinformationinthevCenterChargeback
databaseisinsyncwith
thecorrespondinginformationinthevCenterServerdatabase.

MPORTANTForvCenterServer2.5Update3,ensurethatthestatscollectionlevelissetto2orabove
fortheaveragememoryusagecountertobeavailable.Ifthestatscollectionlevelissetto1,thecost
foractualmemoryusagecannotbecalculated.
