Configuring AppSpeed to Monitor a vNetwork Distributed Switch
AppSpeedisabletomonitorvNetworkDistributedSwitches.However,AppSpeedisunabletodirectlyinstall
aprobethatwillmonitorsuchavNetworkDistributedSwitch.
Toinstallaprobe,youmustspecifyanavailablevSwitchtomonitor.Lateron,youneedtocreatea
promiscuousdvPortGroupandchangethenetworksettings
oftheprobetomonitorthevNetworkDistributed
Switch.AswithvSwitches,AppSpeedmonitorsonlythevirtualmachinesonhostsonwhichtheprobesare
installed.
Create a dvPortGroup
IfyoudeployavNetworkDistributedSwitch,itisrecommendedthatyouaddanewportgroup.
To create a port group
1InthevSphereClientorVIClient,selectHome>Networking.
2 CreateanewportgroupforthevNetworkDistributedSwitch:
a SelectthevNetworkDistributedSwitch.

NOTETodeployaprobe,theremustbeatleastoneavailablevSwitchonthehostfortheprobetomonitor.If
thehostdoesnothaveanyvSwitchesconfigured,orifallothervSwitchesarealreadybeingmonitoredby
otherprobes,youmustfirstcreateanewtemporaryvSwitchbefore
