31 Deploying VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager with NetApp FAS/V-Series Storage Systems
For more information about the snapmirror resync command, see the Resynchronizing SnapMirror
section of the Data Protection Online Backup and Recovery Guide for your version of Data ONTAP
here: http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/ontap/ontap_index.shtml.
7. Check the status of the transfer periodically until it is complete. Notice that the new DR-to-primary entry
is now in the list of SnapMirror relationships along with the original primary-to-DR relationship. The
primary-to-DR relationship is still recognized by the controllers, but no scheduled transfers would be
permitted, as the DR volume has been made writable for use.
8. Schedule SnapMirror updates to keep the relationship current until the failback is performed.
9. From the DR site vCenter server, configure the array manager for the protection side. In this case, the
protection side is the DR site, and the recovery side is the original primary site. If you configured Array
Managers with the arrays in opposite order as described earlier then you can simply proceed to the final
screen of the wizard and click the Rescan Arrays button. If the reversed SnapMirror relationships are
not detected on the first rescan verify the SnapMirror resync commands have completed and click the
rescan button again.
10. Configure inventory preferences for the reverse SRM setup in the vSphere client at the DR site.
11. At the Primary site delete the original primary-to-DR protection groups. Because a real DR failover has
been performed SRM will not allow these protection groups to be used again.
12. Create reverse protection groups at the DR site. Continue on through the protection group dialogs in the
same manner as with the original configuration. A shared datastore will be required at the primary site
for the placeholder virtual machines that SRM creates. If the primary site has a swapfile location, that
may be used, or a small datastore created for this purpose.
13. Create reverse recovery plans at the primary site. Work through the Recovery Plan wizard in the same
way as in the original setup procedure. Note that a test network providing connectivity between ESX
