Chapter 2 Capturing Applications
ThinAppConverterreadstheconfigurationfiletoidentifywhichapplicationinstallersaretobeconvertedand
thevirtualmachinesonwhichtheconversionistooccur.
ThinAppConverterthentakesasnapshotofthevirtualmachinewhenitispoweredoff,whichisusedto
preservethevirtualmachinestates.
Afterthesnaps
hotistaken,ThinAppConverterpowersonthevirtualmachineandpushesasilentcapture
agentintothevirtualmachine.Thesilentcaptureagentrunstransparentlyonthevirtualmachines,capturing
theapplicationinstallationprocessinasimilarwaytothatoftheSetupCapturewizardwhenanapplication
isbeingcaptu
redmanually.Thesilentcaptureagentperformsthefollowingactions:

ThinApp Converter Limitations
Notallapplicationinstallationprocessessupportsilentinstallationmode.ThinAppConverterdoesnot
supportautomaticcaptureforanapplicationinstallerthatdoesnotsupportsilentinstallation.
Theinstallerdirectorynamemustnotcontaintheequalssymbol(=).
Donotsuspend,poweroff,orpoweronanyofthevirtualmachinesthatarepartoftheconversionatany
timeduringtheprocess.
OnlyoneinstanceofThinAppConvertercanuseavirtualmachineduringtheconversionprocess.
