Portforwarding—PortforwardingletsyousendincomingTCPorUDPrequests
toaspecificvirtualmachineonthevirtualnetworkservedbytheNATdevice.To
setupandconfigureforwardedports,clickPortForwarding,andcompletethe
dialogboxthatappears,asfollows:
ToaddanewportforeitherTCPorUDP,clickAddintheappropriatesection,

Hostport—SpecifythenumberoftheincomingTCPorUDPport.For
example,incomingHTTPrequestsareusuallyonport80.
VirtualMachineIPaddressfield—SpecifytheIPaddressofthevirtual
machinetowhichyouwanttoforwardtheincomingrequests.
Portfieldonthatline—Specifytheportnumberyouwanttousefor
thoserequestsonthatvirtualmachine.Thismaybethestandardport,
suchas80forHTTP,oranonstandardportifsoftwarerunninginthe
virtualmachineisconfiguredtoacceptrequestsonanonstandard
port.
Description(optional)—SpecifyYoumightusethisfieldtoidentifythe
servicebeingforwarded,forexample,HTTP.
Tochangesettingsforaportalreadylisted,selectitsnameinthelist,andclick
Properties.
DNS—ThisbuttonletsyouspecifyserverstobeusedbythevirtualNATdevice.
Youcanchangethefollowingsettings:
Policy—IfyouusemultipleDNSservers,specifythestrategytousefor
choosingwhichservertosendarequestto:
Order—SendoneDNSrequestatatimeinorderofthenameservers.
Rotate—SendoneDNSrequestatatimeandrotatethroughtheDNS
servers.
Burst—Sendtothreeserversandwaitforthefirstonetorespond.
Autodetect—SelectthischeckboxtohaveVMwareServerautomatically
detectavailableDNSservers.
Timeout—Specifythenumberofminutestokeeptrying,iftheNATisunable
toconnecttotheDNSserver.
Retries—SpecifythenumberoftimestheNATshouldtrytoconnecttothe
DNSserver.
