Reverting to a Snapshot
Youcan restorethevirtualmachinetothepointintimethatasnapshotwastaken.The
currentdisk,settings,andmemorystatesarediscarded,andthevirtualmachinereverts
tothedisk,settings,andmemorystatesofthesnapshot.See“WhatIsCapturedbya
Snapshot”onpage 196.
To revert to a snapshot
1Inthe
Commandssectionofthevirtualmachine’sSummarytab,expandthe
Snapshotcommand(ifnotalreadyexpanded)andclickReverttoSnapshot.
2Adialogboxasksyoutoconfirmthatyouwanttoreverttothesnapshot.Ifyou
wanttoreverttothesnapshot,clickYes.
Youcanalsoconfigure
avirtualmachinetoautomaticallyreverttothesnapshot,orto
askyouwhetheryouwanttoreverttothesnapshot,wheneveryoupoweroffthevirtual
machine.See“SettingSnapshotPowerOffOptions”onpage 127.
Removing a Snapshot
Removingthesnapshotwritesthecontentsofthesnapshottothevirtualdisk.This
actiondoesnotdestroyanydatainthevirtualmachine.Movingforward,anychanges
youmakeasyourunthevirtualmachinearewrittentothevirtualdisk.Youcannot
reverttoapreviousstatebecausethe
snapshotnolongerexists.
Removingasnapshotwhenthevirtualmachineispoweredoffcantakealongtime,
dependingonthesizeofthesnapshotfile.
To remove the snapshot
1Poweroffthevirtualmachine.
2IntheCommandssectionofthevirtualmachine’sSummarytab,expandthe
Snapshotcommand(ifnotalreadyexpanded)and
clickRemoveSnapshot.
3Adialogboxasksyoutoconfirmthatyouwanttoremovethesnapshot.Ifyou
wanttoremoveit,clickYes.
Thesnapshotisremoved.
Locking a Snapshot
Lockingthecurrentsnapshotpreventsitfrombeingoverwritten.Youcanlocka
snapshotafterithasbeentaken.See“LockingtheSnapshot”onpage 126.
