Thevirtualdiskappearstoyourguestoperatingsystemasanewblankharddisk.Use
theguestoperatingsystem’sutilitiestopartitionandformatthenewdisk.
Editing a Virtual Hard Disk
Thissectiondescribeshowtochangethesettingsforanexistingharddisk.
Thefileallocationoptionsaredisplayedandcannotbechanged.Whenthevirtual
machineispoweredoff,youcanmodifythevirtualdevicenode.
Ifthevirtualmachinedoesnothaveasnapshot,youcanalsodothe
following:
IncreasethediskcapacityforaSCSIvirtualdisk.Thevirtualmachinemustbe
poweredoff.
Changethediskmode.
To edit an existing hard disk
1 SelectthevirtualmachineintheInventorypanel.
2Ifrequiredtochangethesetting,makesurethatthevirtualmachineispoweredoff.
3IntheHardwaresectionoftheSummarytab,clicktheharddisktomodifyand
selectEdit.
TheHardDiskdialogboxdisplaysinformationabout
thedisk,includingthe
datastoreitisin,thelocationofthefirstfileassociatedwiththedisk,thedisk
capacity,whetherthediskisgrowableorpreallocated,andwhetherthediskspans
multiplefiles.

capacity,clickIncrease
CapacityandenteranewvalueintheIncreaseByor
New Capacityfield.Theotherfieldisautomaticallyadjustedtoreflectthechange.
