Chapter 6 Managing VMware Server
To delete a virtual machine or remove it from the inventory
1 SelectthehostintheInventorypanel.
2ClicktheVirtualMachinestab.
3 Selectthevirtualmachinetodelete.
Whenthevirtualmachineispoweredoff,theRemoveVirtualMachinecommand
appearsintheCommandssectionoftheworkspace.
4ClickRemoveVirtualMachine.
Aconfirmationdialogboxappears.
5 (Optional)Todeleteallthe
virtualmachinefilesfromdisk,selectDeletethis
virtualmachine’sfilesfromthedisk.
IfyoudonotselectDeletethisvirtualmachine’sfilesfromthedisk,thevirtual
machineisremovedfromtheinventory,butallthevirtualmachinefilesremain
intactonthedatastore.
6ClickOK.
Thevirtualmachine
isdeletedorremovedfromtheinventory.
YoucanalsodeleteavirtualmachineorremoveitfromtheinventoryfromtheVirtual
Machinemenu.See“DeletingaVirtualMachine”onpage 130.
Performing Power Operations on Virtual Machines
Youcanperformpoweroperationsonanyvirtualmachineinyourinventoryfromthe
VirtualMachinestabofthehostworkspace.Thisismoreefficientthanperforming
poweroperationsoneachvirtualmachinefromitsownworkspace.
To change the power state of a virtual machine from the host workspace
1 SelectthehostintheInventorypanel.
2ClicktheVirtualMachinestab.
3Inthe
listofvirtualmachines,selectthevirtualmachineforwhichyouwantto
changethepowerstate.
4Clicktheappropriatepowerbuttoninthetoolbar.
Youcanalsochangethepowerstateofavirtualmachinefromitsownworkspace.
