For more information about certicates, consult the Microsoft online help available with the Certicate
snap-in to MMC.
N If you o-load SSL connections to an intermediate server, you must import the same SSL server
certicate onto both the intermediate server and the o-loaded View server. For details, see "O-load SSL
Connections to Intermediate Servers" in the View Administration document.
Prerequisites
Verify that the Certicate snap-in was added to MMC. See Add the Certicate Snap-In to MMC,” on
page 84.
Procedure
1 In the MMC window on the Windows Server host, expand the  (Local Computer) node and
select the Personal folder.
2 In the Actions pane, go to More Actions > All Tasks > Import.
3 In the Certicate Import wizard, click Next and browse to the location where the certicate is stored.
4 Select the certicate le and click Open.
To display your certicate le type, you can select its le format from the File name drop-down menu.
5 Type the password for the private key that is included in the certicate le.
6 Select Mark this key as exportable.
7 Select Include all extended properties.
8 Click Next and click Finish.
The new certicate appears in the  (Local Computer) > Personal >  folder.
9 Verify that the new certicate contains a private key.
a In the  (Local Computer) > Personal >  folder, double-click the new
certicate.
b In the General tab of the Certicate Information dialog box, verify that the following statement
appears: You have a private key that corresponds to this certificate.
What to do next
Modify the certicate Friendly name to vdm.
Modify the Certificate Friendly Name
To congure a View Connection Server instance or security server to recognize and use an SSL certicate,
you must modify the certicate Friendly name to vdm.
You do not have to modify the Friendly name of SSL certicates that are used by View Composer.
Prerequisites
Verify that the server certicate is imported into the  (Local Computer) > Personal > 
folder in the Windows Certicate Store. See “Import a Signed Server Certicate into a Windows Certicate
Store,” on page 84.
Procedure
1 In the MMC window on the Windows Server host, expand the  (Local Computer) node and
select the Personal >  folder.
2 Right-click the certicate that is issued to the View server host and click Properties.
