View Common Configuration ADM Template Settings
The View Common Conguration ADM template le (vdm_common.adm) contains policy seings common to
all View components. This template contains only Computer Conguration seings.
Log Configuration Settings
Table 7-4 describes the log conguration policy seing in the View Common Conguration ADM template
le.

Setting Properties
Number of days to keep production
logs
Species the number of days for which log les are retained on the
system. If no value is set, the default applies and log les are kept for
seven days.
Maximum number of debug logs
Species the maximum number of debug log les to retain on the
system. When a log le reaches its maximum size, no further entries are
added and a new log le is created. When the number of previous log
les reaches this value, the oldest log le is deleted.
Maximum debug log size in Megabytes
Species the maximum size in megabytes that a debug log can reach
before the log le is closed and a new log le is created.
Log Directory
Species the full path to the directory for log les. If the location is not
writeable, the default location is used. For client log les, an extra
directory with the client name is created.
Send logs to a Syslog server
Allows View server logs to be sent to a Syslog server such as VMware
vCenter Log Insight. Logs are sent from all View servers in the OU or
domain in which this GPO is congured.
You can send Horizon Agent logs to a Syslog server by enabling this
seing in a GPO that is linked to an OU that contains your desktops.
To send log data to a Syslog server, enable this seing and specify the
log level and the server's fully qualied domain name (FQDN) or IP
address. You can specify an alternate port if you do not want to use
default port 514. Separate each element in your specication with a
vertical bar (|). Use the following syntax:
Log Level|Server FQDN or IP [|Port number(514 default)]
For example: Debug|192.0.2.2
I Syslog data is sent across the network without software-
based encryption. Because View server logs might contain sensitive
data, avoid sending Syslog data on an insecure network. If possible, use
link-layer security such as IPsec to prevent the possibility of this data
being monitored on the network.
Performance Alarm Settings
Table 7-5 describe the performance alarm seings in the View Common Conguration ADM template le.
Table 75. View Common Configuration Template: Performance Alarm Settings
Setting Properties
CPU and Memory Sampling Interval in
Seconds
Species the CPU and memory polling interval CPU. A low sampling
interval can result in an high level of output to the log.
Overall CPU usage percentage to issue
log info
Species the threshold at which the overall CPU use of the system is
logged. When multiple processors are available, this percentage
represents the combined usage.
