Editing a Virtual Machine’s Configuration File Directly
You!can!edit!specific!configuration!options!for!a!virtual!machine!in!two!ways:

! You!can!also!edit!a!virtual!machine’s!configuration!file!(.vmx)!by!using!a!text!editor!
in!the!service!console.!This!lets!you!add,!change,!and!remove!elements!of!a!virtual!
machine’s!configuration.
Modifying!a!configuration!file!using!a!text!editor!is!recommended!for!advanced!users!
only.!The!virtual!machine!must!
be!powered!off.!Back!up!your!virtual!machine’s!
configuration!file!before!modifying!it!with!a!text!editor.
