Install an ACE Management Server Appliance
TheACEManagementServerapplianceisaself‐contained,preinstalled,andpreconfiguredACE
ManagementServerpackagedwithasmalloperatingsysteminavirtualmachine.Althoughtheapplianceis
adequatefortestenvironments,VMwarerecommendsthatyoudonotuseitinproductionenvironments.
Beforeyoubegin,makesuretheclock
issynchronizedandtherequiredportsareavailable,asdescribedin
“PreparingforInstallation”onpage 19.
To install an ACE Management Server appliance
1 Downloadthe.zipfilefortheappliancefromtheVMwareWebsiteandsavethefileonthesystemthat
istohosttheserver.
2Extractthefilestothedirectorywheretheserveris
tobelocated.
3StartWorkstation,chooseFile>Opentoopen,andselecttheams_appliance.vmxfile.
4ClickthePowerOnbuttontostartthevirtualappliance.
5Atthepasswordprompt,enterapasswordandconfirmit.
Thispasswordisusedforbothrootandnetworkaccounts.Makeanoteofthispasswordsothatyoucan
useitforlaterappliancemanagementoperationsfromtheconsoleandtheWeb.
TheapplianceconfiguresitsnetworkbyusingDHCP.
Theconsoleviewdisplaysthefollowinginformation:
