Create a System DSN Entry for a Windows Database
Regardlessofwhetherthehostis32bitor64bit,youcreateaDSNentryfora32bit
system.
Beforeyoubegin,todeterminethecorrectODBCdriver,seeyouroperatingsystemand
databasedocumentation.
To create a System DSN entry for a Windows database
1Dooneofthefollowing:
On32bithosts,usetheODBCDataSourcespluginbychoosing
Control Panel>AdministrativeTools>DataSources(ODBC).
On64bithosts,navigateto%WINDIR%\syswow64\odbcad32.exeanduse
thatprogramtocreateaSystemDSNentryfora32bitsubsystem.
ACEManagementServerdoesnotsupportODBCusinganSQLNativeClient
driveronWindows64bitsystems.
2 CreateanentrythatincludestheDSNname,serverIPaddressor
hostname,and
thedatabasename.
3 (Optional)IftheDSNSetupwizardprovidesanoptiontotesttheconnection,
verifythattheconnectionworkswiththedatabaseusercredentials.
4MakeanoteofthedatabaseDSN,username,andpassword.
Youcannowusethebrowser basedACEManagementServer
Setupapplicationto
connecttothisdatabase.

OnLinuxsystems,youuseatexteditorortheODBCConfiggraphical(X11)utilityto
createasystemDSNentry.TheODBCConfigutilitymimicstheWindowsODBCData
SourcesControlPanelplugin.
Beforeyoubegin,determinethecorrectODBCdriver:
OnRedHatEnterpriseServer,thedriverislocatedat
/usr/lib/libodbcpsql.so.
OnSUSELinuxEnterpriseServer9,thedriverislocatedat
/user/lib/unixODBC/libodbcpsql.so.2.TheDSNconfigurationforthe
unixODBCpackageisstoredinthe/etcdirectory(/etc/unixODBCforSUSELinux
EnterpriseServer).
