ACEinstancesinstalled.
Upgrading from VMware ACE 1.x to VMware ACE 2
IfyouhaveVMwareACE1.xprojects,youcanusetheupgradetoolprovidedwith
WorkstationACEEditiontoupgradethevirtualmachinesinthoseprojects.
Before You Begin Upgrading Virtual Machines
Readthefollowingbeforeyoubegintheupgradeprocedure:
Youmusthavebothanadministratormachine(hasWorkstationACEEdition
installed)andausersmachine(doesnothaveWorkstationACEEditionor
VMwareACEManagersoftwareinstalled)toperformtheupgradeprocedure.
YoumustalsohaveyourownnotesaboutanyVMwareACE1.xpolicysettingsfor
thatyouwillwanttomanuallyapplytotheupgradedmachines.Thepoliciesfor
boththeVMwareACE1.xprojectanditsvirtualmachinesarenotcarriedover
duringtheupgrade.Youcanusethesenotes
toconfiguretheVMwareACE2
policiesforthevirtualmachines.
IfyourACE1.xACEinstancesaresettouseActiveDirectoryauthentication,you
mustcreateanddeployanACE1.xpolicyupdatetousepasswordauthentication
beforeyoubegintheACE2.0upgradeproceduredocumentedbelow.
