mechanism.Makesurethatyoudonotallowthedatabaseuseraccountusedbyyour
reportingtooltohaveahigherthannecessarylevelofaccesstothedata;otherwiseyou
couldcompromisethesecurityofyour
VMwareACEsystem.Forexample,reporting
toolstypicallydonotneedwriteaccesstothedatabase.Instead,youcancreatea
separateread‐onlyaccountforthereportingtool.Youmightalsowanttodisallowread
accesstodatabasefieldsthatcontainsensitiveinformation,suchasuserpasswords,
instancecustomizationdata
(whichmayhavethedomainadministratorlogon),or
instancediskencryptionkeys.(Seetheschemainthefollowingsection).Theembedded
SQLitedatabasedoesnotsupportauthentication,soaccesscanbeprotectedonlyby“all
ornothing”file‐basedsecurity.
