Chapter 11 Installing and Using VMware Player and ACE Instances
AftertheACEhasstartedrunning,youcanchangeapasswordthatyoucreatedby
choosingPlayer>ChangePasswordandtypinginanewpassword.
Entering a Client License in VMware Player for an ACE Instance
IftheEnterSerialNumberdialogboxappearswhenyouattempttopoweronanACE
instance,entertheserialnumberprovidedbyyourACEadministrator,orclickGet
SerialNumber.YoucanalsochoosePlayer>EnterACEClientLicensetoenteranew
serialnumber.
Quitting VMware Player
QuitVMwarePlayerbeforeyoushutdownthehostcomputer—thecomputerwhere
VMwarePlayerisrunning.
ToquitVMwarePlayer,dooneofthefollowing:
ChoosePlayer>Exit(onWindows)orPlayer>Quit(onLinux).
ClicktheXintheupper‐rightcornerofthetoolbar.
Dependingontheconfiguredexitbehavior,theACEeithersuspendsorshutsdown
andthewindowcloses.
Ifyoursystemadministratorhasenabledtheappropriatecontrols,youcanchangethe
exitbehaviorinthePreferencesdialogbox(Player>Preferences).
Youcanspecifythefollowing:
Confirmbeforeexitingtheapplication—Ifselected,whenyougivethe
commandtoexitVMwarePlayer,adialogboxappears.Youcanconfirmthe
intentiontoexitVMwarePlayerorclickCanceltocontinueusingVMwarePlayer.
Suspendthevirtualmachinewhenexiting—Ifselected,VMwarePlayer
suspendstheACEandcloses.ThenexttimeyoulaunchVMwarePlayer,theACE
resumesoperationfromthepointwhereitwassuspended.
Poweroffthevirtualmachinewhenexiting—Ifselected,VMwarePlayerpowers
offtheACE.ThenexttimeyoulaunchVMwarePlayer,theACEstartsfroma
powered‐offstateandtheguestoperatingsystemboots.
Enlarging VMware Player to Fill the Screen
ClickthemaximizebuttonontheVMw arePlayerwindowtorunyourACEinfull
screenmode.Thedesktopexpandstofillthefullscreen,leavingasmalltoolbarvisible
atthetopofthescreen.
