Starting VMware Player
TostartVMwarePlayer,double‐clicktheACEicononthedesktoporsingle‐clickan
ACEinstanceintheStartmenu.
DependingonhowtheadministratorhasconfiguredyourACE,youmightberequired
toenterzero,oneoreventwopasswordswhenyouruntheinstanceforthefirst
time.
Thevariouspossibilitiesare:
Youdon’thavetoenteranypasswords,eitheratthefirstrunoftheinstanceoron
subsequentruns.
Youmustenteronepasswordatthefirstrun,andthatpasswordhasbeensupplied
toyoubytheadministrator.Onsubsequentrunsoftheinstance,youdon’thaveto
enteranypasswords.
Youmustenteronepasswordatthefirstrun,apasswordthatyoucreate.On
subsequentrunsoftheinstance,youhavetoenterthatpassword.
Youmustentertwopasswordsatthefirstrun,bothanadministrator‐supplied
passwordandonethatyoucreate.Onsubsequentrunsoftheinstance,youonly
havetoenterthepasswordthatyoucreated.
Foranypasswords,youradministratormightrequirethatyouincludenumbersor
punctuationmarksorthatyoumixcapitalandlowercaseletters.Thepassworddialog
boxshowswhatrequirementsyouradministratorhasset.
IfthisACErequiresyoutoenterauserpasswordandyoursystemadministratorhas
configuredthisACE
withpasswordlockoutsettings,thenanerrormessageappearsif
thenumberofpasswordtrieshasreachedthesetlimit,andyouwillnotbeabletotry
tologinagainforthespecifiedlockouttime.
Afteryouhaveenteredanyrequiredpasswords,VMwarePlayerstarts.
ClickinsidetheVMwarePlayer
windowtobeginusingtheguestoperatingsystemand
theapplicationsinstalledintheACE.Ingeneral,youusetheoperatingsystemand
applicationsjustasyouwouldiftheywererunningdirectlyonaphysicalcomputer.
