OnlyauserwithadministratorprivilegescaninstallanduninstallVMw arePlayer.
ToinstallVMwarePlayeronaWindowshostcomputer,logonwithadministrator
privilegesandthenfollowtheinstructionsforinstallinganACEinstance.The
installationprograminstallsVMwarePlayerbeforeitinstallsthevirtualmachinefiles
ifVMware
Playerisnotalreadyonthemachine.
Installing an ACE Instance on a Windows Host Computer
AnyusercaninstallanACEinstance,unlesstheACEinstanceincludesahostpolicy.
Thatvirtualmachinemustbeinstalledbyauserwithadministratorprivileges.
AnACEpackagecontainsanACEinstancethatwillbecomeanACEinstanceafterit
hasbeeninstalledandactivated.Youcaninstallapackage
fromalocationonthe
networkorfromoneormoreCDsorDVDs.Ineithercase,takethefollowingsteps:
To install VMware Player and an ACE instance on a Windows host computer
1IfVMwarePlayerisnotyetinstalledontheuser’smachine,logontoyour
MicrosoftWindowshostastheAdministratoruserorasauserwhoisamember
oftheWindowsAdministratorsgroup.
2IfinstallingfromCDsorDVDs,insertthefirstdiscintothecomputer’sdrive.If
installing
fromthenetwork,navigatetothelocationoftheinstaller.
3Findthesetup.exefileanddouble‐clickittostarttheinstaller.
4Followtheinstructionsintheinstallationwizard.
Theinstalleraskswhereyouwanttoplacethevirtualmachinefiles.Thedefault
locationonWindowsXPsystemsis
C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware ACE\<ACE Name>
.Thedefault

.Ifyouwanttoplacethefilesinadifferentlocation,youcanclick
Browseandnavigatetothenewlocationorenterthepathtothenewlocation.Be
surethelocationyouspecifyhasenoughspacetoholdthevirtualmachinefiles.If
itdoesnot,theinstaller
promptsyoutospecifyadifferentlocation.
5ClickFinishtocompletetheinstallation.Thewizardcloses.
