Chapter 10 Pocket ACE
TheCompletingthePocketACEPackageWizardpageappearswhentheprocess
hasfinished.Ifyouwanttodeploythepackageimmediately,selectDeploytoa
portabledevicenow.
Wheneveryou’rereadytodeploythepackage,youcannavigatetothepackagelocation
(theoneyouspecifiedintheNamethePackagepage)onyourmachineandthenfollow
theinstructionsin“DeployingtheACEPackageonaPortableDevice.”
Deploying the ACE Package on a Portable Device
YoucandeploymultipleACEpackagesonasingleportabledevice.Theonlylimitation
onthenumberofpackagesistheamountofavailablespaceonthedevice.Yourun
deploy.exe todeployindividualACEinstancesorbulkDeploy.exetodeployACE
instancestomultipledevices.
Thewizardautomaticallypre‐allocatesdiskspace
andsplitsthediskinto2GB
segments.
Thefollowingproceduresdescribehowtodeploypackages.
To deploy a package on a portable device
1Click deploy.exe.
2IftheEnterPassworddialogboxappears,enterthedeploymentpassword.
3OntheVMwarePocketACEDeployUtilitypage:
a Selecttheremovabledriveorbrowsetothefolderwhereyouwanttodeploy
theACEpackage.ClickRefreshifyouneedtorefreshthedrivelist.

progressscreenappears.
cWhenthedeploymentisfinished,clickDeploytodeploymoreinstancesor
clickCloseifyouaredonedeployinginstances.
ThePocketACEinstanceisre‐encryptedduringthedeploymentinsteadofafterthe
user’sfirstrunoftheinstance.Forthisre‐encryption,thepolicyappliedisthe
package
protectionpolicythatwasinplaceatthetimeofpackaging.
NOTEWhenyoudistributethePocketACE,giveitdirectlytotheuserandtelltheuser
tokeepthePocketACEsecureuntiltheuserrunstheACEandchangestheuser
password.
