YouclickthePreviewinPlayericoninthetoolbartocreateapreviewinstance.A
packagebasedonalinkedcloneiscreatedinanewdirectory,PreviewDeployment,
insidetheACEmaster’sdirectoryonyouradministratormachine.Thesnapshotforthe
linkedcloneistakenoftheACEmaster’s
currentstate.Unlikeapackagethatis
deployedtoanACEuser’smachine,thispackageisnotinstalled.
VMwarePlayerstartsup,andthepreviewinstanceeventsarethesameasthosefora
standardACEpackagedeployment:activationoftheACEinstance;instance
customization(ifany);encryption.Youcan
thenruntheinstance,checkingforthe
effectsofanychangesyoumadetotheACEmaster.
YoucanonlyhaveonepreviewinstanceperACEmaster.WhenyouclickPreviewin
PlayerfortheACEmasterasecondorsubsequenttime,amessageasksifyouwantto
(1)replace
thecurrentpreviewinstancewithanewdeploymentor(2)usetheexisting
deployment.
Thepreviewmodesavesyoutimebecauseyoudon’thavetocreateafullpackageand
installit.Furthermore,thesavedmodeinPreview,whichallowsyoutouseanexisting
deployment,cansaveyouadditionaltime
byallowingyoutoskipactivationand
instancecustomizationstepsthatweredoneduringthefirstpreviewinstanceforthis
ACEmaster.
YoucanswitchfromrunningtheACEinstanceinpreviewmodebacktothe
WorkstationACEEditioninterfacewithouthavingtoshutdownthepreviewifyou
wish.You
can’tstartupanotherpreviewrun,however,becauseonlyonepreview
instanceisallowedpermaster.YoucanstartupapreviewofadifferentACEmaster.

youtoactivateandauthenticatetheACEinstance(ifthosepoliciesareset)
andstartsuptheguestoperatingsystem.
