Steps for Creating a Package
To create a package
1StartWorkstationACEEditionandopentheACEmasteryouwanttouseasthe
basisforthepackage.
2Toensurethatthepackageisascompactaspossible,defragmentvirtualdisks
beforeyoucreatethepackage.Runadiskdefragmentationutilityinsidethevirtual
machinetodefragmenteachvirtualdisk.
CAUTIONEnsurethatyouhavedownloadedthecurrentSysprepdeployment
toolsfromMicrosoftCorporation’sWebsiteandcopiedthemtoyourmachineas
describedin“DownloadingtheMicrosoftSysprepDeploymentTools”on
page174beforepackagingwithinstancecustomizationenabledbegins.Ifthetools
arenotavailableatpackagingtime,the
operationfailsduringthepackaging
process.Becausepackagingcantakealongtime,andthefailuremightnotoccur
untilwellintothepackagingprocess,youcouldlosesubstantialtimeiftheprocess
failedbecausethetoolswerenotavailable.
NOTEIfyoudonothavethelatestversionofVMwareToolsinstalledintheguest
operatingsystem,thewizardfailstocreatethepackage.Ifyouneedtocreatepackages
withoutinstallingthelatestToolsversioneachtime—forexample,ifyouwanttodoa
testdeploymentofthesepackages
anddon’tneedthelatestToolsintheresulting
instancesinordertorunyourtests—youcanhavethewizardignoretheToolscheck.
