Chapter 6 Setting and Using Policies and Customizing VMware Player
Toenablethehotfixfeature,selectAllowuserstorequestahotfix.
Thehotfixrequestisafilethattheusermustsubmittoanadministratorforaction.
Afterenablingthehotfixfeature,youmustselectthepreferredwayfortheuserto
submitthehotfix
request.Chooseoneofthefollowing:
Useemailtosubmithotfixrequest–TheHotFixRequestWizardontheuser’s
computerattemptstouseaMAPIemailclientonthehostoperatingsystemtosend
thehotfixrequestasanattachmenttoanemailmessage.Themessageusesthe
emailaddressandsubjectline
thatyouspecifyhere.
Savetherequesttoafile–TheHotFixRequestwizardsavesthehotfixrequest
file.Theusermustsubmitthisfiletoanadministratormanually.
TheuserseesanysubmissioninstructionsyouenterinthefieldlabeledSpecify
instructionsforuserstosubmittherequest.
Ifyouchooseemailandtheautomaticsubmissionfails,theHotFixRequestWizard
givestheuseranopportunitytosavethehotfixrequestasafile.Theusermustthen
sendthefiletoanadministratormanually.

Setting Policy Update Frequency
Youcanusethispolicytocontrol:
Policyupdatefrequency–HowoftenamanagedACEinstancemustconnectwith
theACE2ManagementServertodownloadanypolicyupdateswhileitisrunning
Offlineusage–HowlongamanagedACEinstanceisavailableforusewithout
connectingtotheACE2ManagementServer.“Offline”inthisusagereferstothe
instancenotbeingconnectedtotheserver;theinstancemightberunningwith
otheractivenetworkconnections.
