To select options for the user snapshot
Choosetheoptionsyouwanttheusertohave:
Taketheusersnapshot
Reverttotheusersnapshot
Ifyouselecteitherorbothofthoseoptions,theSnapshotcommandappearsinthe
VMwarePlayermenuwhentheinstanceispoweredon.Iftheuserisallowedtotake
thesnapshot,theusercantakeasnapshotwhiletheACEinstanceisrunningorhave
VMwarePlayerpoweroff
theACEinstance,takethesnapshot,andthenpowerthe
instanceonagain(VMwarePlayer>Snapshot>TakeSnapshot).
Takingthesnapshotwhentheinstanceispoweredoffprovidestwobenefits:
GivesthesnapshotgreatermobilityAsnapshottakenwhenthevirtualmachine
ispoweredonmightbecomeunusableasitismovedbetweenhostcomputers.
Takesuplessdiskspacethanasnapshottakenwhenthevirtualmachineis
poweredon.
IfanACEinstancegetsstuckduringthetakingofapoweredoffsnapshot(forexample,
atamessagethatsaysyoucanpoweroffyourmachine),theusercanissuethe
commandtotakeapoweredoffsnapshotagaintoforcethemachinetopoweroff.The
machinewillbe
poweredonagainandthesnapshotwillhavebeentaken.
Allpowerandsnapshotoperations,includingexitingVMwarePlayer,aredisabled
whilethesoftwar eistakingapoweredoffsnapshot.
IfReverttotheusersnapshotisenabled,theusercanchooseVMwarePlayer>
Snapshot>ReverttoSnapshotwhenever
ausersnapshotexists.
IfTakeausersnapshotisenabled,theusercandeletetheusersnapshotbyselecting
VMwarePlayer>Snapshot>DeleteSnapshot.
To select options for the reimage snapshot
Choosetheoptionsyouwanttheusertohave:
Replacethereimagesnapshot
Reverttothereimagesnapshot
Ifyouselecteitherorbothofthoseoptions,theappropriatecommandstoexecutethe
optionsappearintheVMwarePlayer>Troubleshootmenu.
NOTEIftheuserortheadministratortakesareimagesnapshot,theusersnapshotis
deleted.
