With Tunneling Protocols
Hostaccessandguestaccessfilterscandifferintheirinteractionswithtunneling
protocols.
Ahostnetworkaccessfilterseestrafficbeforepacketshavebeenencapsulatedinthe
tunnelingprotocol(forexample,VPN),butaguestnetworkaccessfilterseestraffic
afterthepacketshavebeenencapsulatedinthetunnelingprotocol.
Becauseofthisguestaccessfilterbehavior,itmightbepossibleforausertocircumvent
guestaccessrestrictionsthroughuseoftunnelingprotocolsorproxies.
Setting Removable Devices Policies
Removabledevicespoliciesallowyoutocontrolwhetheruserscanconnectand
disconnectremovabledevicesfromtheirACEinstances.
ARemovableDevicespolicyisappliedtoanACEmasterandaffectsallusersofall
instancescreatedfromthatACEmaster.
Toapplyaremovabledevicespolicy,clickRemovableDevicesin
theleftpaneofthe
policyeditor.AllremovabledevicetypesforthisACEmasterarevisibleinthelist.To
enableallusersofACEinstancescreatedfromthismastertoconnectanddisconnecta
device,selectthedeviceintheAllowcolumn.
Setting USB Device Policies
YoucansetUSBdevicepoliciestorestricttheACEuser’saccesstoUSBdevicesto
protecttheintegrityofACEinstancesandyournetwork.Thepoliciesaredynamic,so
youcanallowandthenblockaccesstoUSBdevices.
Youcansetrestrictionsatvariouslevelsofspecificity,andyou
canmixlevelsof
restrictioninapolicysetting.Thelevelsofrestrictionare:
SpecificUSBdevice–Forexample,allowuseofaspecifictypeofdigitalcamera
butdisallowuseofiPodmobiledigitaldevices.
Deviceclass–Forexample,allowuseofHIDs(humaninputdevices),suchasmice
andkeyboards,butdisallowuseofcommunicationsdevices,suchasmodemsand
cellphones.
AllUSBdevices–AllowordenyaccesstoallconnectedUSBdevices.
