Cloning a Virtual Machine from an ACE Instance
YoumightneedtoconvertanACEinstanceintoastandardvirtualmachinefor
troubleshootingorrepairpurposes.AlltheACEpoliciesthatwereontheACEinstance
willberemovedontheclonedvirtualmachine.
YoumusthaveAdministratorModeconfiguredtocloneavirtualmachinefroman
ACEinstance.
Ifyourpackageistamperresistantorencryptedyoumustalsohavea
recoverykey.Enableyourrecoverykeyontheaccesscontrolpageinthepolicyeditor.
To enable ACE 2 to clone a virtual machine from an ACE instance
1 ChooseEditpolicies>AdministratorModeandselecttheEnableadministrator
modecheckbox.Enterandconfirmyouradministratorpassword.
2 ChooseAccesscontrolandclicktheRecoverykeybuttontochooseorconfigurea
recoverykey.
3 ChooseCreatenewpackagetocreateapackagewiththesepolicychanges.
To clone a virtual machine from an ACE instance
1Atthecommandline,changedirectoriestothedirectorywhereyouhavethe
vmware‐acetool.exeapplicationstored.
Forexample,

2EnterthecloneToVMcommand,usingthefollowingformat:
vmware-acetool.exe cloneToVM <ACE 2 instance path name> <target virtual
machine name> <recovery key>
