Drives without Load Handles
Removal
CAUTION:
Component damage: Do not touch components on the drive or its power supply.
These components are very delicate and are easily damaged through handling or
electrostatic discharge. Follow the ESD precautions in “ESD Precautions” on
page xxii.
1. Make sure that all activity involving the drive is stopped.
2. Open the drive access door by turning the door knobs to your left.
Note: Three cables must be removed from the drive. The cables are listed below.
3. Disconnect the drive SCSI connector from the rear of the drive.
4. Disconnect the library-to-drive interface connector.
5. Disconnect the drive power cable.
CAUTION:
Drive failure: Make sure that the latch knob in the next step is completely loosened.
6. Unlatch the drive tray by turning the latch knob all the way to your left.
7. Pull out the drive tray and place it on a flat, stable surface.
8. Turn over the drive tray and remove the four Torx screws.
CAUTION:
For DLT1 drives only: Three additional, T-8 Torx screws on the bottom of the tray
must be removed. This allows you to remove the bracket attached to the bottom of
the drive. This bracket must be removed to access and disconnect the power
connector.
9. Unplug the TTI and power connector from the rear of the drive.
Note: You might need to move the drive away from the tray to access the power cable.
10. Lift and remove the drive from the tray.
