DLT Drives with Load Handles
Removal
CAUTION:
Component damage: Do not touch components on the drive or its power supply.
These components are very delicate and are easily damaged through handling or
electrostatic discharge. Follow the ESD precautions in “ESD Precautions” on
page xxii.
1. Make sure that all activity involving the drive is stopped.
2. At the rear of the library, open the drive access door by turning the door knobs.
Note: Three cables must be removed from the drive. The three drives and their cable locations are
listed below.
3. Disconnect the drive SCSI connector from the rear of the drive.
4. Disconnect the library-to-drive interface (P2) connector.
5. Disconnect the drive power cable.
CAUTION:
Drive failure: Make sure that the latch knob in the next step is completely loosened.
6. Unlatch the drive tray by turning the knob all the way to your left.
Note: The knob allows a range of motion for both engaging and disengaging. The knob must be
turned continually to your left until the knob stops to disengage from the library frame.
7. Remove the drive and tray from the library and place it on a flat, stable surface.
