Preface
This manual describes how to remove and replace field replaceable units (FRUs) in the
L20 tape library, how to convert library operation from high voltage differential (HVD)
to low voltage differential (LVD), and the procedure for downloading library firmware.
These procedures are designed for trained field representatives and distributors of the
Sun StorageTek L20 tape library.
Organization
This manual has three chapters and an index:
Alert Messages
Alert messages call your attention to information that is especially important or that has a
unique relationship to the main text or graphic.
Note: A note provides additional information that is of special interest. A note might
point out exceptions to rules or procedures. A note usually, but not always,
follows the information to which it pertains.
CAUTION:
A caution informs the reader of conditions that might result in damage to

Chapter 1 FRU Replacement describes removal and replacement procedures
for L20 field replaceable units (FRUs).
Chapter 2 “Library HVD-to-LVD Conversion” explains how to convert library
operation from HVD to LVD.
Chapter 3 “Firmware” describes how to download firmware for the L20 library.
