Firmware

Firmware is factory-installed on all new libraries. The firmware resides within a Flash

PROM chip on the LLC card.

You must have one of the following cables and adapter/connector to download the

firmware from your PC to the LLC card:

• An RJ45 connector and Consultative Committee on International Telephany and

Telegraph (CCITT) cable (part 41082890x)

• An RJ45 DB9 adapter (part 10410823) or CSE DOS Diagnostic cable (part

24100134).

The Hyperterminal method of downloading firmware is described below; downloading

through the Library Status Tool interface is described in “Loading Code” on page 3-9.

Notes: To use this method, the library must be fully initialized and the front drawer must

be closed.

Please read through this entire procedure before starting, because there is a two

minute time limit after step 5.

For the Hyperterminal method, you perform two operations to download firmware:

1. Download the new firmware from the multi-platform support Web site at

http://mpss.stortek.com/onto your PC.

2. Download the firmware from your PC to the LLC card.

■ Web to PC Procedure

To download the fir mware:

1. Create a folder or directory on the C drive where you will place the firmware.

2. Use your Web browser to access http://mpss.stortek.com/.

3. Click on Microcode under Tape.

4. Click on the desired product.

5. Click on the icon under the Download File column.

6. Save the file to the location you created in step 1.

Note: The file is a zipped file consisting of multiple files, including: release.prm,

flash97.exe, and the FSC dictionary.
