Zoning Tab
NOTE:
The zoning method used in Fabric Mode and Fabric (Public/Private) Mode—port-
based or WWN-based—depends on the switch model and firmware. (Stealth Modes
all use port-based zoning.) While port-based zoning options are set in the Configure
Switch dialog box, WWN-based zoning options are set through the switch’s web
manager or Command Line Interface (CLI), which can both be launched from the
Softek SANView Client.
Through the Zoning tab, you can configure port-based zoning to divide root switches
into multiple virtual zones (or work groups), similar to Virtual Local Area Networking
(VLAN). You can configure zoning for one port at a time in the Zoning tab, or you can
click Show All... to view and configure zoning for all ports on the selected switch. The
File menu allows you to save zoning configuration separately from the other switch
configuration; the Apply Zoning button (not available for Vixel 8100) allows you to
apply the zoning configuration without applying other configuration settings. To
apply zoning configuration along with other configuration settings, make sure the
Include Zone Settings in Apply ALL? checkbox is checked in the Options tab under
Apply Options (or, for Vixel 8100, the “... in Apply?” checkbox in the Zoning tab).
