Device Type • Fabric (Stealth Mode only)
• Host
• Hub (Stealth Mode only)—Used when the hub’s
connected devices need to communicate with each
other and when address consumption is not a
concern. (If the connected devices do not need to
communicate with each other, you can attach the
hub to a JBOD-defined port, which uses much fewer
address sets.) A device defined as a “Hub” has a
restriction of 10 total AL_PAs. Note the switch
maximum of two Hub ports; one Hub port
consumes 63 AL_PAs while two Hub ports consume
101 AL_PAs.
• JBOD—Used for JBODs and for hubs when the
connected devices do not need to communicate with
each other. Type in the quantity of JBOD8 and/or
JBOD10 devices for this port type.
• None—Used for backup ports. No ALPAs assigned.
• RAID
• Switch_8 and Switch_16 (Stealth-2 only)—Used for
8-port and 16-port switches, respectively.
• Switch Number/Fabric Number—Central (root)
switches are always “0”. Cascaded switches must
each have a unique identifying number within the
maximum allowed for its particular model number,
as long as that maximum is within the central
switch’s maximum (see the switch’s documentation).
LIP If
Storage
Added
When checked, notifies devices on the selected port of
new storage by propagating LIPs (Loop Initialization
Primitives). This option is available for initiators
(switches, hosts, hubs) only.
Backup Port Sets up the selected port as a failover path for connected
devices. The switch automatically routes data to the
primary port when the primary port’s path is
reestablished.
