Identifies the switch in a cascaded
topology and assigns a group of
addresses. Use “0” for central (root)
switch and consecutive numbers for
the cascaded (remote) switches.
Designate

Stealth-3 When this checkbox is checked, the
new configuration applied, and the
request accepted (as indicated by
“Current Switch Designation”),
identifies the switch as the master
(central) switch in a cascaded
topology. If left unchecked when a
second switch is connected, the
switches arbitrate for mastership
and mastership is assigned to the
switch with the lowest World-Wide
Name (WWN). This switch retains
its master designation until it
disconnected. Note: In a star
configuration, the designated master
switch must be the central switch.

Address
Fabric (Public/
Private)
Specifies the number of AL_PAs (per
port) that are reserved for private
devices when the switch is running
in Fabric (Public/Private) Mode. The
default number is 64, which allows
private devices the range 0x73-0xEF;
public devices are given access to
the remaining AL_PAs, starting at
0x01.

When this checkbox is checked, the
switch reserves the address 0x01 for
Loop Fabric Address (and for
N_Port devices). When unchecked,
the address 0x00 is reserved instead.
Note: Loop Fabric Addressing
commands are defined in the Fibre
Channel Fabric Loop Attachment
(FC-FLA) specification.
