BLADE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
For all Vita-Mix
®
Containers –
Do NOT remove blade assembly unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!
1. Wash in soapy water. DO NOT SOAK OR USE
ABRASIVE CLEANERS. If necessary, scrub
lightly with a soft bristle brush to remove any
residue left on the blades or nut.
2. Rinse the blade under running water. Dry
thoroughly with a clean cloth.
NOTE: After cleaning a container with the blade
assembled, dry thoroughly or place container
on its side to drain. Sanitize before use following
the instructions in your owner’s manual.

Use caution when handling the blades. They are sharp.
BLADE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL
• Grip the blades with a cloth and insert into the
container.
• When inserting the blade assembly into the
container bottom, align the flat sides of
the blade assembly with the flat sides of the
container opening.
• Wipe inside threads of nut with a light coating of
food-grade cooking oil. Place retainer nut back
on the inserted blade assembly. Hand tighten
first (Figure F), then insert the Retainer Nut
Wrench (Figure G) and turn clockwise until
tight. DO NOT FORCE.
NOTE: If the retainer nut is not
tight enough, you will notice
increased container noise.

PLEASE NOTE: Recommendations for cleaning
and sanitation can be found in your owner’s
manual. Remove blade assembly only to clean
built up food products or lodged food particles.
BLADE AND NUT CLEANING
Retainer Nut Wrench
For retainer nut removal, please use the optional
plastic Retainer Nut Wrench. Call your distributor or
Customer Service and ask for item #15596.

BLADE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
• To remove the retainer nut, insert the
Retainer Nut Wrench* (sold separately) as
shown in Figure A. Rotate the wrench
carefully counter-clockwise.
• Remove the retainer nut and set aside.
Although the retainer nut has a powder
coating with an anti-microbrial additive that
inhibits bacteria and mold growth, cleaning
may be necessary. Follow the blade and nut
cleaning instructions. Do not remove the
gasket on the retainer nut.
• Carefully remove the blades by placing a
thick cloth over the blades and pulling straight
out. Hint: Place container on its side on a flat
surface to facilitate removal.
