Storage Overhead
There is a certain amount of overhead required when writing data to a CD or DVD. Each selected file
gets written to a separate file when it is stored on the CD. The overhead for the first track is
approximately 24 MB. Each subsequent track requires about 15 MB.
For example:
Archiving a 40 MB file requires 64 MB (40 + 24 = 64)
Archiving a 40 and a 44 MB file requires 123 MB ((40 + 24) + (44 + 15) = 123 MB)
Archiving a 40, 44, and 82 MB file requires 220 MB ((40 + 24) + (44 + 15) + (82 + 15) = 220MB)
2.13 Quick Burn CD/DVD
The Quick Burn CD/DVD feature provides a one-step method of burning video to a CD or DVD. The
following conditions are required for this feature:
Front Panel Lock must be set to OFF. This menu is found under the Front Panel Lock menu.
Archive Lock must be set to OFF. This menu is also found under the Archive Setup menu.
A blank CD or DVD must be in the CD or DVD writer and the writer must indicate that the unit is ready
(green LED is ON).
Video will start burning to the media immediately after the Record CD/DVD button is pushed. There is
no indication that a CD or DVD is being created other than the blinking activity LED on the writer. The
unit will eject the CD or DVD when complete.
The recording will start from the Start-Time and end at the End-Time indicated on the Archive
Incident screen. Also, if you want the QuickWave application written to the media with your video,
then QuickWave CD Write must be set to ON. This menu is found in the Archive Setup menu.
