With the [REVERB POST/PRE] button (only available in
Legend model)
you can select the position of the effect
in the signal chain. In POST mode the led is off; the reverberation is added after the Rotary effect. In PRE mode
the led is on; the reverberation is applied before the Rotary simulation effect.
In
Legend Live
model press simultaneously the button [TRANSPOSE SELECT] and the key G4 on the upper
manual to select the POST mode. Press [TRANSPOSE SELECT] and the key A4 instead, to select the PRE
mode.
5.3 DRIVE
This effect simulates the signal distortion generated when a valve amplifier connected to the organ is driven
into saturation.
The Drive effect of
Legend
/
Legend Live
faithfully reproduces the sound features of the analog distortion; the
higher the input signal to the amplifier, the greater the distortion. You will notice therefore that the effect
depends on a number of factors including
the position of the expression pedal, the level and number of pulled-
out drawbars and the amount of notes played (at low volumes,
for example, it is necessary to play many notes
to drive the signal to saturation.
Use the [DRIVE] potentiometer to
adjust the quantity of distortion.
Through the [DRIVE CLASSIC/ROCK] button, you can also select the type of distortion effect. The
led off corresponds to the CLASSIC effect, i.e. the distortion obtained through the internal valve
amplifier of the classic rotating speaker used with electromechanical organs. The ROCK effect (led
on) generates a sharper distortion, typical of guitar valve amplifiers from the ‘70s.
5.4 ROTARY
The
Legend
/
Legend Live
internal Rotary effect simulates the classic acoustic effect produced by a rotating
speaker connected to the organ. This amplification and diffusion system became widespread with the advent
of electromechanical organs. It consists of two sections, one dedicated to high-pitched tones and the other to
bass. Both could rotate at different speeds, producing a peculiar three-dimensional effect due to the rotation of
the speakers. This effect is the result of the sum of the Doppler effect, due to the relative movement of the
sound source from the listener, and the sound reflections resulting from the rotation.
The
Legend
/
Legend Live
effect allows to simulate as closely as possible both the continuous pitch variations
caused by the different rotations of the speakers and, the particular resonances generated inside the cabinet.
Through the lever control located on the Half Moon panel (
Legend
) or on the side
panel of the lower manual (
Legend Live
) it is possible to select the speed (FAST or
SLOW) of the rotation or to stop it completely (BRAKE).
The speed of the Rotary effect can also be controlled through a switch pedal
connected to the [ROTARY] jack on the rear panel. For more information on the pedal, read par.3.3.
The effect can be excluded from the outputs [LEFT], [RIGHT], [PHONES] and front
headphone output (when the led is switched on) through the [ROTARY DIRECT] button. In
Legend Live
model disable the effect by simultaneously pressing [TRANSPOSE SELECT]
and [ROTARY CLASSIC/ROCK]. When the effect is disabled, the [ROTARY
CLASSIC/ROCK] button's led turns red.
With the [ROTARY CLASSIC/ROCK] button it is instead possible to select the listening mode of the rotating
speaker. The CLASSIC type simulates the speaker as it is actually perceived by the musician. In this mode, the
led turns off. The ROCK mode simulates the sound of a rotating speaker as recorded by a microphone. In this
mode, the led turns on.
NB
Using a rotary speaker connected to the connector [ROTARY SPEAKER] on the rear panel (see point 1 of par. 3.3), in
order to have the internal reverb effect, it is necessary to set the REVERB in PRE mode.
