NOTE: This table reflects support for the disk” backing store type for VIO (other backing store
types do not care what the adapter is). The adapter support reflects all paths to a given a disk
backing store (that is, an unsupported adapter cannot be in parallel with support adapters and
still work; all paths to the disk backing store must be with supported adapters. You cannot rely on
the CLI and API interfaces to prevent unsupported disk adapter configurations. Unsupported
configurations might result in guest panics.
11.8.1 Guest Attached Device Support

Attached devices are supported for all types of guest
operating systems that provide supported drivers for the
physical device as attached to the VM Host device.

NOTE: Attached devices (VIO) and burners are not supported for OpenVMS guests.
11.8.2 Multipathing Software Support
Multipathing software is supported on the Integrity VM Host system. Unless specified otherwise,
multipathing is supported for use with either legacy virtual I/O (virtual adapter type specified as
scsi) or AVIO (virtual adapter type specified as avio_stor). The required version for these
products is determined by the software vendor and the release of HP-UX installed on the VM Host
system.
NOTE: Starting with HP-UX 11i v3 0909, LV Mirroring is supported on HP-UX 11i v3 guests with
Integrity VM V4.0 or later using AVIO.

11.8.3 EVA Series Firmware Requirement
The AVIO Storage Driver supports Active-Active firmware types on EVA series (3000/5000 and
4000/6000/8000). Be sure that the following firmware revision levels are met before configuring
AVIO backing stores on these arrays:
